83 days sober
It's amazing what you can do when you're ready to do it. I ran into my old party buddy at the lake this morning when I went for a walk. She was a little hungover from last nights festivities. I certainly don't miss that feeling. I felt really good because I remember those days and they are not fun. Another little moment in my life that makes me apprecite my sobriety. Happy Saturday everyone!! I hope everyone is well.
About a month ago I went out with some friends on a Friday night. I stayed sober the whole night while I watched them drink. I left the festivities around 10:00 PM, went home and went to bed. The next morning we met up for breakfast around 8:30 AM and I learned that they stayed out until about 2:00 AM and had gotten into the shots after I left. They looked horrible - they were both really really tired, they were still drunk, and their hangovers were starting to kick in. They were barely dragging themselves around, while I had so much energy and felt fantastic. It was a huge reminder to me of why I stopped drinking and being out late.

Shantra, I totally agree when I see and hear from people I know who drink talk about how exhausted and hungover they are or the things they wish they didn't do. I feel for them but kinda do a hug to myself for getting sober. I don't miss drinking one bit and I know it is hard for some to believe but when you cross that line in drinking from social to consuming your life and I saw all the negative physical and mental side effects....well....ummmm yeah.....I'm good on all that. Detoxing this last time almost killed me and I will never touch a drink. i wish I had someone videotape it so others who aren't quite there can see how "heavy drinking" over time affects you when your body just can't take it anymore.
Keep going strong my friend. One day at a time
