Well, I get it now. Finally. I'm an alcoholic. Denial has been stripped away. There is NOTHING normal about my drinking. At all. After several car accidents, ruining every relationship I have ever had, almost losing custody of my son last fall, teenage daughter in rehab, new boyfriend almost dumping me because I drink too much, a stint in detox which ended with me right back in a bar the same night hmmmmmmmmm I get it. I'm a drunk. Called my aunt last night and asked her to stay with me for a few days so I can get a few days of sobriety under my belt without going away. I still may need to. I don't know yet. I know nothing I did before worked. But, I also didn't really try because I didn't have a problem, um yeah right. I realize I am going to have to go to meetings too. I need support. I am an alcoholic. |

I know exactly how youe feel. Ive been there. The main thing right now is that you have just taken the first step of the 12. You have admitted that you are powerless over alcohol and that your life is not managable. I know its rough, But i also have given this program the gift of time and i wouldnt be sober writing this right now if it didnt get better for me. I suggest you definetly start going to meetings and meet some peole for support. The first couple of days are gonna be rough, but go to meetings and reach out for help. You can do this, your relationships will get better, you can be an example for your daughter, and your life with be better than you could have ever imagined. My mom is in a rehab right now, the same rehab i went to. One of the best things sobriety has given me, is the chance to be an example to my mom. Give this thing a shot. You can do it. |

Yes...we do have a glitch sometime it will only work if you have a single letter or word. Sometimes it will post more as a header. Tip-as soon as Submit Post go to Advance then Edit then you can change the title. Then use Submit Post. Glad you are here with us I have no experience with re habs but......I just came home from one of my regular AA meetings. I am filled with gratitude and joy! I certainly wish that for you soon. Yes! you too can win over alcohol....

Just a bit of advice from my own experience. Go to a meeting NOW and get moving on the steps. I was sick as a dog at my first meeting but I needed that urgency. On that day, nothing else mattered but getting sober. Whatever it takes.

So, I made it through the night and am feeling really good and optimistic today! Was going through some first step work on the other forum and found that really helpful. I did the exercise about the ten things you never thought you would ever do. Holy crap! That is sticking with me big time...
