Alien..is your only question here about the hand tremors? I thought I followed your story but.... If that was the only question, they went away from me after a couple of weeks (maybe 3), I drank a little less than 750ml hard liqour per day for 4-5 months (most days) the last time I was drinking. |

I'm no doc (boy if you ever read any of my posts - I don't even need to say that) but I personally suspect the tremors come from a number of things- 1- the sugar levels in the body rising and falling radically 1- the brain's inablity to adjust adrenaline/dopamine after being sedated with alcohol for so long a time... I liked what you said about the white noise and stuff. having 'audio integrative' deficiencies associated with ADHD ... I 'got' what you said right away - becuse as a bartender in a loud busy bar for almost ten years - I had to focus on the face speaking to me - or I couldn't even recognize the tune playing on the juke. OR - I'd ONLY hear the music - and the words being spoken to me ... would be lost. It's probably a similar thing with you - only it's ... what's the word ... 'artificially induced' by the sudden removal of alcohol. Whereas my chemical imbalance ... isn't caused by that. Since it's a 'deficienty' I've always had - I won't ever get better. I ALWAYS have to consciously direct ... what I'm 'listening' to. It'll probably clear up as you get the icky out ... and the good begins to repair. Same thng with the sleep disturbances. The body is trying to re-program itself - after being damaged by alcohol. that takes time. Please remember - this is the LAST time you ever have to go through this. You don't ever HAVE to drink again. And - you're not alone.

Hi, About the 'immediately becoming un-psychologically addicted' - yes, it happened to me, overnight; but it doesn't always last! Last time I quit, I though I'd cracked it BECAUSE the urge to drink had gone; when it returned, 3 months later, I had nothing to fight it with, because I had done absolutely nothing except not drink. This time, it's been 7 months and the urge hasn't returned. If it does, and I live in nervous anticipation of it, I hope I'm better prepared to see it off. Your detox sounds similar to mine. Several sleepless nights, then it was over and I was sleeping like a baby and all sweats, tremors, headaches and so on were gone. But, as others say, it's always a good idea to get checked out. I'm heading to Japan this Christmas, by the way. How do you say, 'No beer for me or I may run wild' in Japanese? Best wishes, Mick |
