I'm working where Dr. Bob and Bill had their first meeting.....

Hi. I usually don't post on this site, I'm on the naranon site mostly...but just had to tell you all that I am working at Stan Hywet, in Akron, Ohio. It is the site of the Seiberling Mansion. The Gate Lodge is where Henrietta Seiberling introduced her friend, Dr. Bob, to Bill W. on Mother's Day in 1935. The rest is history and I'm thrilled to be able to walk in that house and into the parlor, where the two men had coffee and talked for 6 hours on the Mother's day.
I work with Special Education students, during the school year. During the summer months, I job coach those students at various work sites, in the community. This summer, we were lucky enough to obtain the Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens.
It gives me goose bumps every time I walk through the door of that gate lodge.

I imagine it must be a humbling experience to be where you are, considering the history of the place...

Why not breathe it in, and take some of that away with you...?

i get a kick out of bill's brownstone

can you imagine what their wives went thru
as i pass,
i used to imagine bill w. coming home with a newcomer
calling up to his wife
"put the coffee on"
same with dr. bob

these guys were drunks
and
now their wives had to make coffee, listen to them expound on the program, etc
but
they must have thought it a miracle, too
they were sober
