| Patrick's Introduction
I am new to this website but I have been sober and recovering since 01/01/01, and I typically visit some other recovery forums on the web. I still get nervous about sharing at face-to-face meetings so I like the online recovery community. I also started taking some classes online and I found that I like that a lot too. I'm 30 years old, male, and I work at a treatment center, which is pretty neat. I'm not a therapist or anything, more of a babysitter for the residential clients. Since I am usually shy and passive, this job has been a real challenge for me. It makes me assert myself, which is always uncomfortable. It takes forever for me to become more assertive and to be more confident when speaking in front of all the clients. I have been there for a year and I still get scared. Anyways, it's nice to see another recovery forum--this place seems pretty cool! |

hey patrick, Welcome to SR. It's a great place to recover. A long, long time ago, in galaxy far, far away, I went to school at WMU in Kalamazoo. Would you happen to know if Bilbo's Pizza is still around?

Hi, Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic. Thanks for sharing Patrick and Welcome to SR. I think that is great being able to work in an inviroment that keps u close to recovery. I would love to get involved in something like that. Any suggestions on how to get involved in my own area? There's lots of good sobriety here with wonderful caring people sharing their own ESH with u and others. Each learning and helping others stay sober and clean one day at a time. I look forward to reading ur post on ur own ESH. Thanks for letting me share.

Glad you are here. I too always had the "fear of people" issue. Just keep working at it and it gets better. I'm still not much for big groups or public speaking. But put me with my AA friends and watch out!! This girls a motor mouth!! LOL
