| Today I am grateful...
I just want to say how grateful I am for my recovery and how AA has helped me. I have read in some other forums that some people are very anti-AA and I don't quite get it. I have been to several AA meetings and have found that I don't like them all, but have finally found 2 that I feel are a "fit" for me. I feel bad that some people have found negative experiences in AA or perhaps, haven't given it a fair chance and feel the need to be "anti-AA" in stead of just "it's not for me". I know it is a program of attraction and not promotion and I hope that I can live a life that some day someone will want what I have -- first and foremost, sobriety AND happiness!! I don't believe that AA is the only way to stay sober, I just know that I like the fellowship that I've found in it and in SR too. It's not my only support in my recovery, but it sure it an important part. Just my 2 cents worth.

I am grateful too. To be sober today through the help of AA. I think much of the anti-AA sentiment comes from people who 1) don't want to go to meetings, be around other people; 2) think they can handle there problems with some other way. I tried AA when I had exhausted all other means of getting/staying sober. It may be that many people on this forum are still testing out those others means, looking for something easier and softer.

i'm grateful to have given another chance. Another chance at sobriety, and AA is what works for me. I'm thankful to God that He didnt let me die while i was out 'there' doing what I do. I'm thankful that even in the midst of all the sickness I am facing, I AM SOBER.. I'm thankful I can share this great gift of recovery with others, by sometimes, just being an example. I'm thankful for the new sponsor I have today. I'm thankful I'm alive. And I'm thankful I have found this site.

I'm grateful for all the benefits of AA - handing it over? Wow, who knew that that could be so liberating? Not taking other's inventory? I mean, sometimes that's really hard to do, sometimes it's getting closer to second nature - but for so long I didn't know that I was doing it, so was always a victim to it. Same with taking resentments, or practising gratitude and acceptance. Although tolerance still seems to be on a higher plane - in time, I hope. Have a good day all. |
