| Member | My Responsibility
I have been doing some travelling across the east coast and have attended several different meetings on my way. As a responsible member of AA I have concerns regarding the "watering down of AA" I am not hearing the message from the podium or in discussions meetings, AA is a 12 step program, if I am not working the steps and trying to help another alcoholic why am I here? I do not have the right to talk about whatever issue I am currently dealing with at a meeting, we all have issues, what is my primary purpose? Alcoholism is a spiritual malady as well as a physical addiction, wreaking havoc and crushing lives long before it inevitably kills if left untreated. For a real alcoholic the only answer is a spiritual remedy attained through working the 12 steps with a sponsor. I can not "fix" anything, however, I can follow tradition, make sure my sponsee's know what AA is and isn't, attend my home group business meetings, and make sure that the newcomer hears a message of hope.

and by example, as you keep your side of the street clean, you would be showing others how it should be done. One or two meetings away from home may not give the full picture of how that one group does things. A working group will grow, a nonworking group will close. Things always have a way of correcting themself over time.
