Meetings - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

I just wanted to share my week with y'all.

Since my big bottom out a couple weeks ago I've been getting to more AA meetings thanks to a new AA friend who has volunteered to drive me (I've lost my license for a year). I went to 3 meetings last week and each one is so different than the other. On friday she took me to a large speaker meeting (probably 100 people) and it was so cool to see so many different people from so many walks of life, it really made me feel a part of a larger community -- which is pretty cool since I had been isolating myself by mostly drinking at home alone.

Wednesday is a smaller group of about 10-12 of mostly men. An older timer has taken me under his wing and gives me great guidance. My saturday meeting has about 30 or so people and we break into small groups of 8-10 and I hear such great stories.

I encourage anyone who has gone to meeting and doesn't like it or it doesn't feel a connect to keep trying different meetings. I've been to some that I don't like for one reason or another. I'm just glad to find 3 at a time in my life that I'm ready to really work at my sobriety. Perhaps it was just me being ready that was the determining factor all along.

Giad you can find a meeting or two that you can feel comfortable wth Girly.

I like your positive approach to recovery.

The wrong meetings make AA a chore. The right meetings make it a joy. I'm glad you found the right ones.
