Just a sort of AA anouncement
TOM K.
celebrates 50 years this month, February
He is an esteemed member of THE BROOKLYN GROUP
AA's second oldest group
and
has been an extraordinary example of the program

he is also a member of the Bay Ridge group
so
here goes

his anniversary is 2/12/'56
boy, that musta been real ol' time AA
tommy has shared quite a bit oif those stories with me

but then, again,
it's 2006
and
AA is still there

a AA story

when he came in
they used to buddy up
3, 4, 5 go to a meeting
of course, back then
there were very few groups
the Brooklyn group,
which orginated at Bill's house
met at the St. George hotel
in brooklyn heights
they rented one of the banquet rooms
and
served ice water

and, a few groups in manhattan, etc
also, it was a buddy thing to go on committments, also

i mentioned to tom
and he verified
how it must have been to be the youngest
in the group
he was 29, at the time
and
of course
back then
alcoholism wasn't even considered a disease
so
lots of AA's were hardened alcoholics
in their 50's, 60's, etc
