| AA Birthday!
I can remember my last drink... it was on my wedding anniversary 5 years ago today. I sat alone throwing red wine down my neck (my husband had had enough of me and had gone to bed early) I had all but destroyed our life together, I had broken him, I hated me I hated my life I hated my kids and I hated what I had become...... 5years ago tomorrow I will be 5 years sober.....I went to AA and I felt as if I had come home...I will never forget that first meeting I was welcomed and for the first time in my life I heard from another woman her experience strength and hope I was totally gobsmacked could someone else possible understand what I have lived through? Yes and many more meetings helped me to understand that I was and never will be or have to be alone again..... Today I have a programme which I can follow, steps to try to live by and meetings where I can share my expereinces strength and hope....but more than that.... I have a loving husband who absolutely ADORES me, two fabulous kids who adore me, a fantastic home and material pocessions I never thougt I would ever have....People in the fellowship who are 'unique and priceless' (keys to the kingdom) It has not alwasy been easy for me but today I am free of that hideous pain that alcohol gave me, the lonliness, the fear and dread each morning, the frequent visits to the bathroom to be sick or otherwise!! the retching, the blackouts the guilt the shame the horror and sadness of it all.....I can have all that back...no thankyou AA has helped me beyond measure, beyond my wildest dreams for we have afellowship which is proactive we give it away to keep it....... So a huge thankyou to AA and huge hope to the newcomer...it gets better everyday I am a walking miricle thanks to AA Just simply Thankyou Purrdyxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Congratulations...4.5 years for me tomorrow! Funny, my sobriety date was also 3 days after my wedding anniversary, however...my story didn't have the "happy ending" that yours did..... I'm very happy for you!
