| Character Defects
Been posting alot this morning about honesty. Helps me to realize, still, that lying is/was a huge character defect of mine. I was at Wal-mart the other day. Had to write down some prices for things for work. Didn't have a pen. Was standing at the pharmacy and looking at the pens in the container. First thought: Put the pen in my purse, nobody will know. Second thought: Ask if I can borrow it. Third and final thought: I asked if I could have the pen because I needed to write down prices. I wouldn't be bringing it back because I was running short on time. The lady laughed at me and gave me the pen. Man, is this a recovery extreme!!?? And I still feel like I should return it!! It's a freaking PEN!! UGH!! Missy (bet I still return the pen!)

Recovery in action, Missy. Recovery in action. Hmm... seems we share the same alcoholic brain. That situation with the pen illustrated exactly the growth and progress we've made today. Back in active alcoholism, I betcha a donut we'd have stopped at that first thought.

Oh! how I relate to that Missy! I was having lunch with a group of 9 friends from AA last Wednesday, we are regukar lunchers at this particular place, and were dining outside. My friend and I got up to leave, hugx ect, and off we went . Halfway home we realised that we had not paid our bill!!! I rang the resturant when I got home to apologise, and tell the owner that we would pay next time, she was overwhelmed, she kept saying that no one had ever done that before ( rung to let her know) it is a good feeling to be honest. In times past , I would have been congratulating myself for getting away with it , and would have drunk on the associated guilt HUGX Lee |
