| A doozy!
I just woke up from the worst drinking dream ever. So vivid, real, scary. I'm sick to my stomach and shaking like the morning after and my sponsor is in a meeting. I've never been so scared isince the day I stopped. I want to cry, scream beat something to a pulp. Not to mention this has been the second one in a row.. WTF!! .. I need toheed my own suggestion and realize it's my reminder as to why I can never drink again.. but damn it I'm going to be sick. |

I hate the first few moments after waking up, when I get the dreams... I almost feel guilty for the pleasure I sometimes feel in these... Drinking dreams are the worst for me, because it's still so fresh in my mind. Haven't done cocaine in almost 16 years, but I still get vivid coke dreams. I don't know... Maybe it's an indication of just how deeply we've impacted our lives when we were active, Chy. Good reminder indeed. Recovery is the work of a lifetime, and a lifetime of work. | |

| Thank You!!!!!!
The Blessing of this Chy, It's only a Dream. Now you can reflect on the reality that you are clean and sober, and the Blessings and Joys that have come about because of it. Thank you for reminding me that I am an Alcoholic and will always be an Alcoholic, that's ok today. Because this sickness is treatable, and that's a blessing. Your pain last couple of nights is my gain, thank you for sharing them. And if I am able to offer a blessing, my it be that for the next few weeks to come you may only dream of things that bring you Joy in your life. Thanks again, my you have a great day despite of your night. Tabuki

(((Chy))) I'm so sorry.... ![]() I've had smoking dreams recently and during my last quit. They are scary. Read some recovery literature; take some deep breaths and be grateful it's just a dream. Yes, our use has indeed impacted us, as Dan says. And a very good reminder of why we can't use again. Take it easy, Chy...we're here for you... So, do whatever it is you need to do to get this out of your head. ![]() Shalom, my friend...

Chy, If you can’t get to your sponsor, then work with another alcoholic. Make this an opportunity to do good by an uncomfortable experience. What you can use is the feelings that you had because of the dream. Draw on those feelings to help you be empathetic to someone who is in the actual throws of what you dreamed. It’s like a refresher course without having the totally devastating repercussions. When this happens to me, I sit quietly and review the past few days. What has got me upset enough to bring out this reminder? Have I been slacking on my conscious contact with my Higher Power? (I feel my alcoholic malady is three fold… physical, mental and spiritual. Today, I get sicker quicker from the spiritual side of my program than the other two.) Am I practicing the principles in all my affairs? Skimping on my steps? Is there one (or two) that need attention? Am I remembering to work Step One 100% today? Or am I losing sight of the fact my life is still unmanageable by me? Have I been working with others or have I been isolating again? It usually only takes a few minutes of quiet reflection to gain the insight that I am needing. If it remains a problem, I throw myself even the harder into working with others. (The book says that’s one way to help insure my sobriety and I find that I usually say to others that which I need to hear for myself.) Hope this helps. I hate to see anyone go through this, but if we can take away some of the mystery of why it happens, then it’s not so frightening. Let us know how it goes because it could help others going through the same thing.

Chy: There may be "something goin on underneath you're reluctant to look at...???" or it is just the season. Drinking and Using dreams are much more common at this time of year because of the "stress" prior to the holiday. ie House to be decorated, gifts to buy, time to manage, food to get, cards to send out, etc etc etc. Find some quiet time for yourself, take a nice aromatic bubble bath, etc . Be grateful, it was only a dream, and an excellent reminder of where you used to be. Take some deep breathes and relax. Thank you so much for sharing this, as its a great reminder for this old alkie, that I MUST take care of me first before others, lol. You know.........God first, then myself, then those around me in order of importance to me. You have my home phone number, call me anytime you need to sweetie, and I will call you right back as I have unlimited long distance, and since you are over the state line it is long distance, roflmao. Have a great day Chy!!!!!! I will say an extra prayer for you today. Love and hugs,

((Chy)) Glad you are feeling better!! I hope you don't mind, I wanted to share one of my dreams. I was sitting on a bar stool next to my husband, drinking beer and rum and coke. All the sudden, the sober me walks up on the other side of my husband. He turned and looked at the sober me and said, "Thank G*d you're here!" Pretty freaking weird, but cool!! May you have the sweetest dreams ever tonight!! Big Hugs, Missy
