Thanks for the post. I don't know what this share-a-thon is, I better start cross-training. No, but really...can you tell me what it is? I am guessing it is an all day AA meeting.

I found this article..Although it says the 25, it must be wrong because the 25 is a tuesday. Share-A-Thon Set By AA On Saturday, October 25, Suffolk Intergroup Association (SIA) of Alcoholics Anonymous will host its annual share-a-thon. SIA is an association of the A.A. groups in Suffolk County, doing what the groups individually cannot do (24-hour hotline, meetings lists, share-a-thon, and other activities). An AA share-a-thon consists of meetings, workshops, and exhibitions. The event is open to members and non-members alike. It's not free, but the ticket price is less than the cost of the event. The share-a-thon is being held at St. Joseph's College in Patchogue from 9 am to 4 pm. For information, please call (631) 654-1150.

Here in S.E. Michigan we have those, though they're called "Alka-thons". Usually during the holidays, they are all day long meetings, some case they go for 24 hours with folks voluteering to be seated at tables for 2 hour blocks so that at anytime somebody shows up that needs a meeting, they find somebody. I don't think theres ever a cost, but they take donations and such to keep some decent food on hand so people can just hang out with other group members as opposed to being alone. Which can be real tough during holidays. |

Some quick clarification. What Stormy Autumn posted is from a newspaper announcing the event in 2003. This year's is on Saturday, October 29th and it is FREE! This is more than 24 hour marathon meetings. Both AA and Al-Anon have different topic meetings every hour. There will be a countdown, I believe and oldtimers panel. The Archives will have a display of material. Really a worthwhile event for those of you on Long Island
