need to find support

Hi this is my first time posting a thread. I am 19 years sober and I have just went through the most difficult year in my sobriety. I went off work due to medical reasons and have been dealing with chronic pain from my many car accidents in my drinking years. I then had my wife diagnosed with a brain tumor that she ended up having surgery at the mayo clinic and thankfully the surgery was successful but she needed allot of help in functioning which was a real strain on me as I was in a lot of pain also. I have 2 children living at home my youngest is a 9 year old boy and has cerebral palsy and needs alot of care and attention as well. He is an awesome child he shows me how to truly accept life on lifes terms. He is always happy and on the go. My daughter is 17 and has been a big help with caring for my wife and son but has her own teenage struggles to go through. Now that my wife is better and able to take care of herself we decided to seperate in the beggining of May so she can deal with individual issues that have been interfering in our relationship for many years. I have the children and would have it no other way. I don't get out to many meetings about 1 a week so SR has been a great access to recovery without having to leave my home. I am not one to reach out for help very quickly so I have been kind of sitting back and reading lots of posts and responding to people when I think I can help. I finally think I need to reach out. I need support even if it is just making connections. I am not one to go into the chat rooms. I feel almost shy to go into a chat site. So I guess what I'm looking for is to meet some of you that are interested in talking via emails or PM's. Thanks for being there SR members I appreciate it.

Talking Gosh...

I just had my 16th AA birthday..I think I will quit counting!!

Please use my PM if you like.

And do make use of the Discussion.

There are also on line AA meetings here at SR. They are in the Chat room but you do not have to speak/type. Pass works there too.

Hey Perbear--Glad you are here. I only have 15 months of sobriety, but I would be happy to chat with you via PM, email, or what ever. Thanks for letting us know where you are in your recovery.

Hang in there!

Hugs--

Hi Perbear,

I'm 4 1/2 years sober (and a fellow Canadian) and you can feel free to PM me anytime. I'm on and off the computer throughout the day, so I will always get back to you. I think it's great that you are reaching out at this time. I wish you well.

Anna
