A couple of months ago, i showed up in here, and was at that stage all over the place mentally. I will soon be 6 months sober, and things are going good for me. I have made a lot of new sober friends (not necessarily AA's), and have revived friendships with sober friends that i became detatched from. Life is fairly good. I have applied to go to one of the top universities in the UK (Bath) to study for a masters in Human Communication and Computing, and i have made great strides in rebuilding a genuine relationship with all of my family (mum, dad, 3 brothers and 3 sisters). I just want to say thanks to anyone here who helped me with words of advise, and encouragement. I realise that my next bad day is not too far away, but i have been going to a lot of meetings (almost every day), and i feel i am equiped to deal with the dark clouds when they arrive. Thanks again. |

Hey Irishman, you're sounding great. I remember your posts from a while back, and I must say things seem to be going great for you. And Bath!! Well done. It is a fantastic university and a wonderful town. I went out with a guy who was at uni there in the early 90s and spent 4 happy years visiting him. And it's even better now - lots of money been spent on the place. All the best for the future. |

That is great news Irishman. Isn't it funy that the desire to stop drinking leads to a desire to -------. Sober? You can fill in the blank. Your life is a blank check to a bottomless account. Don W
