| Carnival Cruise???
I am going on a 4 day cruise. I have heard that this cruise line has AA meetings at noon in the library. Anybody else know anything about this??? I have a number for AA in Cozumel where we dock. But I am concerned about being on board. Any suggestions??? Thanks, Kelli :sink

| What a
treat! Some cruises do and some do not have meetings. Call Carnival and ask. Take your Big Book + Daily Reflections. Be sure to turn your wine glass down at dinner.Enjoy!

My sponsor went on a cruise for her honeymoon not too long ago. She and hubby went to a couple of the on-board meetings. She said they were fine--only them and a few other people, but it was still a meeting! If I were you, I would definitely check it out. Who knows who you might meet!

Hi K/M We went on a Carnival Cruise last year, before I had stopped drinking. I've wondered what it would be like now, but I do remember that even then, I probably drank less than normal because drinks were ridiculously expensive and fortunately not included. I personally didn't remember alchohol being pushed on passengers too much ( although I did encounter some of this while laying in the pool area). You will have the same waiter every night, just let him/her know your preferences. My experience on this cruise was that there is so much to do on the ship and so many families, that avoiding alcohol would not be a problem/temptation. I suspect you will have a fantastic time especially if this is your first cruise, and especially sober. As for AA on board and in port, you might want to check the message boards on cruise-addicts.com and cruisecritic.com. Happy Sailing! RB

Hey, just consult with the crew to see if they'd mind if you started AA meetings yourself if there's not already one scheduled. You never know-------you might be a godsend to any other alcoholics who need a meeting and don't know they could start one themselves. Otherwise, like another person said------be sure to take your Big Book and whatever daybook you use and turn the wine glass over at meals. If they come around offering drinks at the pool, just order something non-alcoholic. You should be just fine. Have a great time! Think how much more you're going to get out of the cruise sober than if you were drunk, disgracing yourself and not able to remember half of it. Enjoy! I'll keep you in my prayers. |

Hi Kelli Just got back from a cruise. The cruise line will give you an itenarary (sp) of what happens every hour of every day, and it will be in your cabin on the bed. Look for the "Friends of Bill W" meeting. That's AA. It will tell you what dock & what time. HAVE FUN! Bon Voyage! |
