I was curious to see how your home group does Chips and celebrates AA Anniversaries/Birthdays. This is my 3rd Home Group..and each do/did differently. In Washington D.C. on the Sat. following your 1st year you spoke from the podium for 15 minutes. The cake and medallion was furnished by the Alano Club. In Pensacola Fl. they had poker chips for 30 days..6 months and a 1 yr medalllion. Club furnished all including a cake for each month. Last Sat. of the month celebration time each one said a few words as they received a chip. Here in Dallas Ga. we offer chips every meeting. We use a a 24 Hour... then 30 days... 3 and 6 and 9 months....1 year. We celebrate tge last Fri. with a guest speaker. Our group furnishes a cake + medallions with your date and 'user" name So Cathy31...I gotta say AA is the same vut different!!

Here in El Paso, we have birthday night once a month. We celebrate 30, 90, 6mo, 9mo and 1 year+ anniversaries. We have a pot luck dinner and auction followed by the presentation of chips while we all eat cake provided for by the club. One big cake!

my homegroup celebrates months of sobriety up to 1yr then annually, it is just a chip that is presented (if many years, such as my sponsor, it's ordered in specially) and the birthday guy or gal takes a cake themselves.

Awww, that sounds so nice! Based on the meetings I've been to here in Ireland (been to one in most counties) on the person's anniversary (1 year or 30 or whatever) the person whose anniversary it is brings in a cake. I have not seen any chips of any description. (everything else is done beautifully, I'm not criticising the way they do it, am sure there is a reason lol, in fact I will ask and let you know) Nice to see what the rest of you guys do - I particularly like the white cleansing chip part. In the meetings I go to, each meeting at the end they give out a desire chip, 30, 60, 90 day, 6mo, 9mo, 1yr, 18mo, 24mo and then years. At the end of ea month they celebrate AA birthdays for that month by a member(s) volunteering to provide a cake for that last meeting of the month. J |

My home group meets twice a week.We pass out coins at every meeting right after the 7th tradition.24 hour,30,60,90 days,6,9,12,18 months and multiples of years. We celebrate birthdays the first Monday of the month. The person with the birthday usually chairs the meeting. No cake. But,there are usually snacks at every meeting anyway.

In my home group, we take a moment at the beginning of each meeting and ask who's celebrating something that particular day. Be it a day, a week, ten days... If the person mentions it, it's acknowledged. We call 'em coins up here I guess. Three months, one year, five years. These are the nights where we eat cake, and many other goodies. Also, instead of a newcomer or 24 hour coin, our group voted in conscience last year to give a big book to every newcomer. |

Only One Of My Home Groups Does The Cake. All My Groups Get Together For Most All Holiday Cept For Thanksgiving. I'd Have Gotten Out Of Aa If, It Wasn't For The Fellowship. It's Nice Having The Picnics And Having The Family There Chris

Here we call it an anniversary and the celebrant reserves the meeting for their anniversary and asks 2 people to speak for them 1/2 hour each to tell their story.
