| "Jack" and "Kathy" KETSDEVER, JOHN P. "JACK" 69, of Sun City, CA., passed away from complications from heart surgery and emphysema, March 24, 2005 at Kaiser Hospital, Riverside. Born Sept. 13, 1935 in Los Angeles Jack was Executive Director of Riverside Recovery Resources, a non-profit drug and alcohol recovery organization, which he (with the help of some generous friends) started in 1987. Jack was a pioneer in Riverside County in the recovery field. He and Ann started the first women-with-children residential recovery home in Southern CA. Since he began his own recovery from alcoholism on Sept. 16, 1980, Jack has helped hundreds of people put their lives back together and begin to live productively. His philosophy was that he was grateful to God for his own recovery, and believed it was only right to give the opportunity to others. He was respected throughout the State and was the recipient of numerous awards for his initiative and perserverance in obtaining financial help to provide recovery opportunities for indigent people. He was active in his state organization (California Association of Addiction Recovery Resources) serving as president several times. Jack touched many lives, and he will be greatly missed by his loving family, loyal employees, and just about anyone with whom he came into contact. State Congress and Senate adjourned in memory of him and his work in the field of recovery. *** Also, an "unsung hero" that passed away as a result of lung cancer eleven days prior was our beloved "Kathy" who volunteered at our local Central Office. With no special recognition to commerate her actions, she let her service speak her gratitude. |
