Take some deep breaths, dsmaxis. Remember thoughts are just that, thoughts. You don't have to act on them.

Hold on the urge will pass.

Yes, Dsmaxis, the cravings have no power over you, the cravings are just thoughts generated by your addicted brain, the AV. Your higher brain, the real you, can choose whether to act on those cravings or not. Be strong and resist that rogue craving for alcohol, that the REAL YOU doesn't want to drink.

From an old timer at my meeting today: "Try and channel your thoughts through your heart, not your mind. Your heart isn't sick and will process them in a positive way." Not sure if that helps but, it struck me and some issues I'm having.

8 days is fantastic, Dsmaxis! I hope you enjoy your home group celebration, as well as celebrating that you're more than a week sober, in fact into your second week!

Next time...
Get busy. Preferably work, call, or visit other alcoholics. Get to a meeting. Go for a walk (without money or cards) and pick up litter. Go to a shopping center and put back the carts... Do something for someone else without getting caught. See what happens in your head AND your heart...
We are designed to be if use to others... try it... and then give thanks where thanks is due...

That's what I did when I got 3 and a half years clean and sober. Picking up cig butts in parking lots of churches. Going to 7:00 am meeting at 5:45 am to set up six days a week giving a blind man rides to meeting six days a week then eventually rides to doctors and shopping and much more. I did a lot. So I'm gonna have to up the anti dig deep. Helping anybody move giving people rides to meetings. I have schizophrenia been to `16 mental hospitals clean and sober never testing posative for anything. Got of a court case being deemed not sane to stand trial. That's how I got my license back. I also have bipolar chronic depression and anxiety and fibromyalgia. Just your garden variety mentally ill chronic pain person um no were all different in how deep were gonna where gonna dive into Spiritualism. I go to AA because I'm an real alcoholic I want to recover I want to get well keep it simple isn't in the first 103 pgs I'm coming out with both guns blazing.

I fall into this category: "There are those too who suffer from grave emotional and mental disorders, but many of them do recover..."
I know plenty of folks with outside issues that have remained sober over 20+ years. They were/are willing to do the work. You are welcomed to stick with the winners...

Day 21 no cravings blasted threw 1-9 now I'll relax and take it easy what an amazing experience i'd be dead If it wasn't for God humble servants helping me the last 12 years!!! I've lost the obsession I don't hide from alcohol but some were out there there's a schizophrenic alcoholic that needs help it's suggested you should have a year to sponsor I know tons of Religion and Spiritualism I've reached all my Spiritual goals all my paranoid madness is gone I sleep 8 hours last night I had to go threw 1-9 keep it simple with your family like Chris Raymer says when you realise just how ruthless this disease is you got to come out with both guns blazing relax and keep it simple when you go threw 1-9

I have recovered and have been given the power to help schizophrenic alcoholics recover 12 step promise we get well 12 years to make all my amends we wil interest in selfish things porn poker to name a few and gain interest in our fellows!!! For a selfish self centered rotten scumbage I walked into my first message from an alcoholic a long time ago!!! My dad no he never got honest on his fifth step never work on his defects of character to good to pray on his knees works everyday for uber and gambles all his money away treat my mom who's in alon owe my beloved Mother we prayed to gather this morning for my brother who's chronic alcoholic just like me!!! I'm on disability for paranoid schizophrenia bipolar chronic depression fibromyalgia which God made me this way I would't change a thing about my life or past!!! I was dealt two seven offsuit but I'm gonna playem like I got pocket Aces and I'am !!! This disease is ruthless when you WAKE UP that it's a matter off life and death some hoe The great reality deep down in every alcoholic is only two steps away!!!

So the only amends I had left was to my mom i was raised in a christian home always believed in God !!! But not that salvation was asking Jesus into your heart which is not his real name!!! I know all alcoholic addicts have salvation the good one's and bad one's maybe about the bad ones!!! I was taught by all women teachers until 5th grade when I was sent to the abyss!!! Public school the hole world I was brought up in was a lie never taught about evil!!! But I have fully recovered in 21 days slept 11.5 and a half hours last night think . Stigma and not being honest harmed me but nothing happens in Gods world by mistake there's nothing i would change about my life or past some lessons have to be lived to be understood !!!

If it's helping you stay sober, post your butt off. Just don't drink! This too WILL pass.
U remember walking into a deli when I was a couple weeks sober and saw a drink cooler full of imports. Scared the Willie's out of me, followed by the thought: "There ain't enough in there for me to start again."
Who saves one beer?

Keep doing what you are doing, and doing for others without telling--left hand/right hands stuff... Matt. 6:3...
Stay SOBAH!!
