this may not be the right forum but looking for insight.....how do I talk to my Alcoholic b/f about his drinking (he knows he is but always plays the blame game when I bring it up) I cannot take it any longer but I feel guilty..when things are good then I feel differently and I have been told when he is drinking is not the time to bring it up...........I want to keep myself sane and go on with my life .... thanks for listening! |

Hi Shel and welcome to Soberrecovery! Well he is doing what alcoholics do. We blame, manipulate, and make others feel they are the cause of our problem. Until he is ready to admit he needs help in dealing with this nothing will change. But you can find support by going to Al-Anon and visiting our Al-Anon forum here. You will find many in your shoes, sharing their experiance and learning to live by setting boundaries, detaching from the situation and not feeling guilty about the loved one in your life. We look forward to getting to know you and if you visit our Chat forum you will see the scheduled meetings for those members of Al-Anon. All are welcome to the chat room and it's open 24/7 for your use. Just private message (pm) anyone online and they will be glad to meet you there to have a live discussion. |

Hi and welcome. I agree that bringing it up while drinking is not a good idea. Have you checked out or Alanon forum here at SR yet? I think you might get some insight from reading over there. Post of course to and the help and support you will receive will be wonderful. Good luck to you.
