| AA Big Book Quote for June 29
"But life among Alcoholics Anonymous is more than attending gatherings and visiting hospitals. Cleaning up old scrapes, helping to settle family differences, explaining the disinherited son to his irate parents, lending money and securing jobs for each other, when justified—these are everyday occurrences. No one is too discredited or has sunk too low to be welcomed cordially—if he means business." pg. 161~ ----------- a few hours early cuz I'm

Glad to hear you're getiing some sleep these days Moot. Good quote today. I like to be reminded of how we alcoholics who have been fortunate enough to find recovery have a responsibility to be the peace makers, the helping hand, and the healers for the lost soul. Being in service is so much more than meeting commitments. It is about being truly available even when it may mean some personal sacrafice. How easy it can be sometimes for us to forget how some of of us were in a bad state of affairs when we first got started. Being in the middle of an insane life can make initial recovery nearly impossible without a hand up and out of the mess of an alcoholic wreck. Still, it gets tricky when it comes to knowing just when the alcoholic really means business . There seems to be a balance that needs to be achieved with respect to self preservation and altrustic sacrafice. Just a thought. Have a great day. Rudiger
