Can This be Me



When Alcohol has dragged you down

And its drug has numbed you brain

When friends and loved one turn aside

'Cause you caused them so much pain;


When you gone and lost your self esteem

And you got no more self-respect

Your getting there, but have you really

Reached your bottom yet ?


Your appetite for food is gone

You'd rather have a drink

Your stomach turns, your head spins

You spend more time in the sink;

You think more and more of alcohol

Whenever you're awake

It takes you longer to shave

My, how your hands do shake!


Have you ever heard your children ask

" Mommy, why do you cry ? "

Watched your wife walk out the door

Not even wave good bye;

Have you ever had your money gone ?

Bill collectors at the door

What happened to your brand new car ?

It's not in the driveway anymore !


You're sitting all alone somewhere

In a bar-room on a stool

You may think you are a king, but look around

Others see you as a fool;

I know, cause I've been there

Lost everything I owned

And even though the place was packed

I felt so much alone.


But I found something you can have

It's absolutely free

And it can work for anyone

Just take at look at me;

Get out to meetings, lot's of them

And you'll soon be feeling fine

Don't rush it --- Just be patient

Take it one day at a time !!!
