| Re: AA meeting or Bar?
I just went to my third f2f meeting. More women there, but I'm still looking for a sponsor. Last night, we talked about how we react/respond to others. What I learned, is that it is better to think and then respond, rather than, reacting first. (which is what I normally do) So in thinking about this response, we should ask ourselves 3 things. Is what we are about to say the truth? Is it necessary to say this? And is it kind? What a great lesson. This will cut down on our resentments and having to accept that we were wrong. Also, if an apology is in order, crow is much better warm. So if you have to eat it, do it ASAP! Thanks All! Missy

Last night I attended my 4th AA meeting. We talked about a little bit of everything, the BB, truth, intolerance. Lots of subjects. One thing that was said was, "You can't soar like an eagle, if you're trotting with the turkeys." He did say we weren't the turkeys! LOL The most important thing that I came out of the meeting with, was a sponsor! I really like her and I think we will do great together. What a blessing to have other alcoholics, that want to share their lives and experience with me. Too help keep me from making some of their mistakes. I :heart AA and SR. I'm finally "getting a life"! Hugs, Missy

| Re: AA meeting or Bar?
Now, I've been to so many meeting's I don't know how many I've attended. I was hoping that would happen! I have 3 weeks sober today and am thankful for everyday. I guess we can get some time behind us, one day at a time. I always like to post what I have taken back with me from a meeting. One topic was thoughts v/s desires. They were saying that the desire to drink does seem to pass, but the thought of drinking doesn't. If it did, we wouldn't be alcoholics. Thoughts are not facts! Just because we think we need a drink, does not make it so. This is very beneficial to me, since I seem to have a constant war going on it my head right now. I just love going to meetings! I still get anxious before I go, and want someone to tell me it will be ok. That too shall pass. I'm starting to feel like they are my family, just like the people here at SR. But I also know there can always be bad apples, so I'm keeping an eye out for them. Warm wishes to all, Missy

| Definately AA!!
What a great bunch of people at the AA meetings! Last night I was crying when I went to the meeting. Read to give up. The topic last night was freedom. Freedom from this disease and the freedom now to make choices. I really needed that. Just when I had zero hope, they gave me some. Told me I was right where I was suppose to be in my recovery. Also, a guy brought to everyones attention, that I was the only one sitting there shaking my legs. And I WAS!!! I told them, aren't you all glad you don't feel like me!!! I want what you've got!!! I was laughing after the meeting! It felt so great, they truly understand. I believe in the "Yets". That more bad things could happen to me if I continue to drink, just hasn't happened yet. I believe that the AA promises will come true for me, with the help of all my sober friends! I believe that I have been given a second chance in life. And I am not about to let it pass me by!! Love to all, Missy

Yesterday's AA meeting was about anger. How we are now more able to handle that emotion. I was told that the actual feeling of anger only lasts for 10 seconds, after that it turns into resentments. Not sure that's a scientific fact, so take it or leave it. In looking at myself, I realized that I always had to be right. Always had to say something to the person who made me mad. Just to get my point across. Always had to have the last word, which was usually to make the other person hurt worse then I did. I am happy to say, that I am working on this. Progress not perfection, Right!?! I am realizing that no matter what has been done to me, I have a choice on how to respond it. Praying for the person who has upset me! That's a new thing for me, I guess that's better then wishing them dead. LOL Really been watching my mouth lately! Getting ready to start step 4, don't need to be adding more stuff to my list!! Take care and Hang Tough! Missy
