conscience meeting
conscience meeting
Hello
Can anyone tell me what an AA conscience meeting is?
My home group is having one next week and I want to be prepared for likely discussions. I assume it is something to do with the structure/content of future meetings?
Thanks

Each group is different, but there's generally an accounting of the groups funds and expenses (rent, refreshments, literature, donation to Area, Region, and World services). Sometimes there will be election or appointment of jobs (coffee maker, greeter, secretary, chairperson for the month, etc.)
I've seen a bit of everything and business meetings, up to and including "everything fine?....ok let's go home" to near fistfights. Yours will likely be somewhere in between that.

Funny, they call them "business meetings" here in Toronto.
But yeah, some cross (and crass!) talk, taking care of internal business, upcoming events, and pretty much figuring out who is doing what for the next month or so. The joke is that if you can successfully practice spiritual principles in those meetings, you are doing very well in your program!
It's good to be a part of them - another way of doing service, and showing commitment to the home group.
