As we go through the day we pause, when agitated or doubtful, and ask for the right thought or action. We constantly remind ourselves we are no longer running the show, humbly saying to ourselves many times each day "Thy will be done." We are then in much less danger of excitement, fear, anger, worry, self-pity, or foolish decisions. We become much more efficient. We do not tire so easily, for we are not burning up energy foolishly as we did when we were trying to arrange life to suit ourselves. It works -- it really does BB 3rd Edition p87 - 88 HUGX Lee |

Almost lost it yesterday after 45 days. A stupid arguement with the wife and I put on my coat, left without saying a word and went for a drive. I passed a few booze stores and thought about it and then found myself in another town driving past the bar in which I choose to loose my sobriety the last time out. I kept driving though and came to realize that I was feeling sorry for myself and that I left the house not only to "cool down" but also to make my wife worry that I might be going out for a drink. All this driven by self pity and insecurity. The serenity prayer did help me yesterday and a meeting or 2 is in order for today. Thanks!
