Arrow Big Book Quote

"I had no problem admitting I was powerless over alcohol, and I certainly agreed that my life had become unmanageable. I had only to reflect on the contrast between the plans I made so many years ago for my life with what really happened to I couldn't manage my life drunk or sober. AA taught me that willingness to believe was enough for a beginning."

Ah, my plans vs. what really happened.

Looking back on my drinking experience I see many plans and dreams replaced with regrets.

Each day I go forward with a renewed desire to change my life is a blessing.

I can't explain why sometimes I am driven to the store to buy alcohol, and other days the problem is removed. It doesn't exist. Lately, it hasn't exsisted. I haven't felt driven to run to buy alcohol.

I hope I can keep my emotions in check, grounded in reality, and humility, so that I don't drink again. I hope I can stay true to myself and have motivation to do the next right thing.

I pray you don't feel the urge to pick-up either but when you do you just have to fight it. I have found after many many years of relapsing that I broke the cycle when I wanted to stay sober more than I wanted to drink. It really is that easy. You have to really work as hard towards staying sober than you do to drink. It takes a commitment. I also got so sick of all the consequences. I was a low bottom drunk and its probably a good thing because if I didn't have any consequences I would probably still be drinking. I'll keep you in my prayers. Hang in there.
