So disappointed

I want to scream and cry. I just walked over 2 miles, in heels, to go to my FIRST AA mtg.

It's not the best place in the city either (I took a bus then walked).

The building is abandoned, I called the # of the "nursery" where it's supposed to be and it's out of service, called 411 and they have no listing, called local AA and got answering service to which she said, yes I have the myg listed and this schedule just came out a couple days ago.

I'm beside myself. I'm dripping in sweat and it took a LOT of courage and effort for me to take this step and this is what I get?!?! I'm so fu**** angry and discouraged.

I'm SO sorry- AARGH! BUT it is very encouraging that you would go THAT far to go to your first meeting. I see a lot of hope there! Try again and don't let this discourage you. (HUGS)

Sorry that happened. I have driven in the pouring rain to find an empty church as well. Turns out I read the schedule wrong.

I am not saying that is what happened in your case.

My sponsor would give me 10 minutes to get upset over a situation but then I had to move on.

She would say, "You can go get upset over ____ for 10 minutes, and then call me back."

I would call her back before 10, realizing to dwell 10 minutes on what I was mad about was silly.

Whatever we focus on grows.

Yes, what happened was a bummer...and we cannot stay there....

Keep seeking.

welp, it does happen. i have planned a ride on my motorcycle with a meeting in mind. even looked on the web site. drove 3 hours( i take long rides) to find the meeting had moved, even though the web site was updated recently.
it is hard for the people updating the meeting lists online to get accurate information sometimes. it happpens. i personally am very greatful to see you goin to the lengths ya went to to get to a meeting. now, it is possible to call the local AA # ya got and ask for phone #'s of some people in recovery who can help you find a meeting and will more than likely pick you up for it even.

OMG! I cannot believe that happened. I hope this will be a funny story for you, later. Right now it totally sucks. I was so nervous about my first meeting, and if I had even the smallest little sign that maybe I shouldn't be there, I would've turned right around and gone home. Don't take this as a sign! Turn it into a positive, find a darn meeting, and maybe don't wear heels next time?. Two miles I admire you girl!

I feel you hon. My first AA the time on schedule was posted wrong and I walked in to a meeting that was halfway through. It was quiet in the room and the doors slammed hard behind me and everyone looked up. I burned with fury too.

my higher power also has a great sense of humor!

Keep coming back, just get to another location for a meeting! Call first and see if a meeting has been established!!!

I've done the same thing as you....today I have over 16 months of sobriety!
