| Trudging that road. | "The fact is that most alcoholics, for reasons yet obscure, have lost the power of choice in drink. Our so-called will power becomes practically nonexistent. We are unable, at certain times, to bring into our consciousness with sufficient force the memory of the suffering and humiliation of even a week or a month ago. We are without defense against the first drink." ~ Alcoholics Anonymous 1st Edition There is a Solution pg. 24 c- Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, INC. |

Or even if we are able to bring into consciousness the memory...it doesn't stop us from drinking. Knowing all of the past troubles I had never kept me from drinking because I wanted to change the way I felt in that moment. The only thing that matters before I drink is that drive to change the way I feel. I think.

Ah yes. The part of alcoholism that really screws us. That strange mental blank spot. Screwed me everytime. This is why I worry about the folks who say that fear keeps them sober. Seems like a shaky foundation to me.
