I have hot had a drink in over three and a half years. I have not been to a meeting in over a year. I knew when I started missing meetings which led to not going to any, I was not doing the right thing for my life in general. There is so much more to AA than not drinking. Because I have lost that connection that me as an alcoholic needed, I have been paying the price on a personal level. I recently nearly lost someone very dear to my heart because I've slipped into old ways of thinking. Now I have a long road of trying to repair damage that I can only hope I'm not too late to fix. All I can do now is get involved again, and know what ever the outcome, this is the only way I will have a chance of a happy life.

Emotional Recovery, understand what it means today to be removed from drink but still in pain. Sobriety and Recovery linked - only sought one because I needed the other. Can't stay sober for long with being in fit spiritual condition. Why on earth did you stop attending meetings? |

my man, i am so glad to see you see the problem before you drank and glad to see you know the solution. one thing i have learned from personal experience is i am rather ego centric( or hard headed iffen ya wanna call it that) and gotta take them hard knocks to learn my way dont work. we live we learn and gotta work on throwin away the arse kickin machine. we aint bad people gettin good, were sick people gettin weller.

Sometimes, it takes a good hard shove to realize how fragile our recovery has become....certainly my experience. Easy for me to become a whirlwind in peoples lives again......without a drink in sight. For me, it was necessary to go back through the work, ..emerging into the light again, then i could see how sick and fragile id become....while i was in that asleep state, all i could think was i was surrounded by pious idiots that really need to concentrate on there own recovery....it was that insipid . Great to see you back........ |

The oldtimers say that it's easier to stay than to come back. Good to meet you, Dan ! Bob R

Thanks for the replies. Sorry it took so long to get back here. I actually went to a noon meeting yesterday, then decided that evening to go to my old home group. It was so nice to see those people. I'm so grateful that I did go back.
