Alcoholism affected me the worst when I was not drinking. Life was down right unbearable when I was not drinking. For most of my drinking career, alcohol put me at ease, made me more comfortable in my own skin, helped me deal with problems, kept me sane. I likely would have committed suicide had I not had alcohol. It was my answer to all of the restlessness, depression and anxiety that I experienced when sober. Alcohol was my treatment for my alcoholism. Problem was my treatment was killing me and it stopped working as well as it did in the beginning. Thats where 12 steps and God came in. They are my replacement for alcohol. A permanent treatment if you will.

Thank you BBT. Bob talked about how alcoholism affects you when you are not drinking.

He asks did you know alcoholism could affect you when you are not drinking?

Thank you for your reply.

I had edited mine to remove that question because I thought I should keep quiet and just post the talk.

!

I think you caught it before the edit...thank you.

Your reply is awesome.

Bob B's talks are among THE best I've heard...and were/have been instrumental in my understanding of recovery, application of the principles of spirituality, and the catalyst behind a lot of delusion-smashing.
