| Facilitating an AA meeting and my medallion.
I recently started facilitating the AA meeting I have been attending for several months. I have my 9 month medallion coming up and I am not sure what the proper protocol is for this. Do I present the medallion to myself, give it to my sponsor to give to me (he also attends the same AA meeting), or do I attend a different meeting and receive my medallion there? |

I have no idea what your HG customarily does on this matter. I suggest you ask your sponsor But... I do not know of any group that gives medallion for members who have less than a year or more. Chips yes...medallions no. Maybe I am behind on the current milestone customs? .. Glad to know of your progress...

I go to other meetings to get my chips (almost 6 months) but I buy myself the fancy bronze ones to keep in my pocket. I put the aluminum ones in the cup holder of my car to remind me not to put a beer in there

Find a meeting that gives monthly chips and go at 9 months! They are usually beginners meetings, but not always. They are usually presented by the leader of the meeting. And you can inspire others that are just starting! Awesome on the 9 months. I found that to be an important milestone. |

A good conversation to have with your sponsor

My home group doesn't hand out chips or medallians. The meetings that do hand them out have a chairperson begin the meetings and someone else gives out the chips or is asked by the chairperson. What does the Group Conscience suggest?

At my home group when you get 25 years they give you a donut with a candle in it.... at 30 years they light the candle.... or so I'm told. I've seen many celebrate these marks and didn't notice anything unusal in their donuts. Perhaps one of those things I was told early on to string me along.

DAB ...have you had time to check with your sponsor? I still think that is the way to go on this situation..
