| AA Thought for the Day Fantasy Above all, we reject fantasizing and accept reality. The more I drank, the more I fantasized everything. I imagined getting even for hurts and rejections. In my mind's eye, I played and replayed scenes in which I was plucked from the bar where I stood nursing a drink, and was instantly exalted to some position of power and prestige. I lived in a dream world. AA led me gently from this fantasizing to embrace reality with open arms. And I found it beautiful! For at last, I was at peace with myself. And with others. And with God. Thanks, Carol! I'm finding in my step work this year that step 2 is meaning more and more to me. It's bringing a kind of hope that's more solid than just the "I hope I can do this" thoughts I've had earlier in recovery. Now it's more like "I know my HP will do this." Very cool. Thanks for all you do, Carol. I don't post much, but I always look for your posts. Vashti |
