It has been awhile sense I posted here. Life has been crazy busy. I'm in the middle of what started out to be an ugly divorce, but seems to be leveling off and settling down. I now have my kids exactly half of the time which is great. Only problem being a single parent occupies much of my time and my meeting attendance suffers. I'm still actively working the steps with my sponsor but I'm not able to make as many meeting as I used to. A testament to the program - I have went through tons stress and anxiety during the last five months and have not had the desire to pick-up. AA truly works! I never thought it was possible to face the type of struggles I've been through without seeking relief in a bottle.

Rest assured that you will find a balance between meetings and parenting. It's taken me years, and I've always believed that God gives me time away from my children to focus on my recovery, it's made me a much better father that I ever dreamed I was capable of being.

Astro, thanks. It is never a problem for me to make a meeting if we are just hanging around, if fact my daughter will remind me about my meetings. It is just all the activities they're doing at the moment, some of which are seasonal so things will slow down in time. It is taking a little getting used to. I can see where finding the right balance will be good for all of us. I'm sure they could use a break from me at times too.

Trust me, I can relate ![]() Daughter just wrapped up softball season, son is finishing up Little League. I thought I was about to get a break. They're both starting summer swim team tomorrow, and daughter was asked to play on an indoor soccer league over the summer, so no break for me this summer. Lol. I used to take them to AA meetings 2-3 times a week, but recently we agreed to stop doing that, it's time for me to focus on parenting on the nights that I have custody, rather than asking my kids to share in my recovery which they've graciously done for almost 4 years. So far it's going well, I'm only making it to a few meetings every week, and I still find time to work on my service commitments. But most of all, this is teaching me to appreciate "life on life's terms".
