...we're bickering again... Here are some of the methods we have tried Sharing opinions only, limiting others opinions, never posting in love, never posting to learn, posting only to preach, never having time for others points of view, not posting our ESH, switching from lecturing to whining, posting only personal cares, taking a tip, not taking a tip, (both with a chip on the shoulder), swearing to leave forever (both with and without a solemn oath), talking more physical excercise, quoting an inspirational book (actually, that one's ok), going to healthier forums and blogsites - we could increase the list..... We don t like to pronounce any individual as assholic, but we can ALL quickly diagnose ourselves. Step over to the nearest forum and try some controlling posting. See where it gets us in a forum full of alkies.... Not directed at ANYONE in particular and only intended to reflect the author's observations of himself..

Hmmm, I knew there was brilliance lurking in this sordid place.

Very cute. Almost spit coffee all over my keyboard. I've been thinking about Tradition 1 in regards to what I read here and what I hear in meetings. What does that mean, "personal recovery depends on AA unity?" Same idea in the long form if you prefer. Does unity mean that we should all get along and agree with each other? Everyone can spread any message they want as long as we are tolerant of everyone's views? Or does unity mean a unified message of AA? The tradition is about AA survival and health. It seems to me that both discord within AA (arguing over what AA is, how it works), and a watering down of the message and purpose can be detrimental. I'm sincerely interested. Or I can just be amused by the original post. Stands up on it's own w/o any discussion. |

Yes... but.... I have learned an awful lot about AA and how different people understand and live the spiritual principals... My understanding of AA has grown significantly in the last week or two... by reading the posts in the 12 step forum... I have reflected, gone back and read the Big Book again, and tried to participate in a respectful way. Paul, yea that was good, and I'll take it to heart. Mark
