Question Cabin Fever!

We've not had any snow to speak of in IL. However, we've been getting ice every week sometimes several days of it. I'm lucky, most of my meetings are in town. A few meetings I have to drive out of town to attend.

Baring the road conditions, I find myself going more with the cold weather then, I might other wise. I hate winter grrr.

Do you find yourself going to any more meetings to avoid cabin fever or, same as always??

Not exactly....but I do make a point to have
personal contact each day...because I live alone.

It's very rare that we have icy snowy times near Atlanta.

Captain, as I too have health issues and I don't go to many meetings, I do keep daily contact. I also have several elderly neighbors and will just go and visit them, maybe bring them something I have made, soup, etc.

Where you are, if you have any elderly living nearby go chop the ice off their walks. Go the nearest Nursing Home and find out who no longer gets visitors from the day nurse, and ....................... start visiting. You will be amazed at how rewarding that can be, and even more amazed at what you learn from your new friends. I found out a long time ago, "Being Of Service" does NOT mean just in AA. lol

Love and hugs,

We've been having spells of chilly weather here in Central Texas, but I don't let it slow me down too much. However, if it does get icy here, it really is best to stay off the highways because some of the people around here have their common sense freeze up as well as the roads.

I also have to remember that in my past bad weather did nothing to keep me away from the bars. (In fact I remember one time being snowed in here in Waco and walking a couple of blocks to a bar that I'd would have never frequented on a good day!) Today, the least I can do is be at the meetings to open up and make sure that someone is there in case another alcoholic comes in needing help.

Hope the sun shine soon for you Chris!

LoL

I've heard that said at a meeting as well

I like to point out, I was drinking at the time and now, I'm older and have more sense in going out in real bad weather for anything.

We've had ice so bad here on a Sat. night meeting, I slid over 50 foot on a downward slope to the hospital side walk. :praying

3 of us made a meeting that night. We must have been some sick alcoholics
