Arrow Big Book Quote

*~*~*~*~*^ Big Book Quote ^*~*~*~*~*

"Next, we decided that hereafter in this drama of life, God was going
to be our Director. He is the Principal; we are His agents. He is
the Father, and we are His children. Most good ideas are simple, and
this concept was the keystone of the new and triumphant arch through
which we passed to freedom."

Yep, I can't very well trust God and play God at the same time,a recent inventory shows me a man who still believes he can manage certain aspect of his life, inevitably these areas are in conflict with others.

It goes better when I walk into the day, having made thorough prayer and mediatation and am actively seeking God through 10 and 11 in all my waking affairs.

That's all fine and well, but I'm a little confused now and need some help with this one.
Pg 62 as Carol quoted is step three which states that we have passed through the arch.
Pg 75 which is devoted to step five says that we are building an arch through which we shall walk a fre man at last. Indicating that we haven't walked through the arch as of yet.
This just caught my eye and I thought I would demonstrate a little humility and ask if anyone can help me with an answer.
Thanks in advance.
Karl

Don't let yourself get caught up in the black and white text of the Big Book my friend. Step three you have made a decision to give your life up to God. Steps 4-11 are the process by which we do that. We ain't done until we have the spiritual awakening. Then we are bound by that contract to continue this as a way of life ( daily reprieve)

I don't look at step 3 as giving up anything as much as turning my self will over to the "care" of God; much like I do when I'm sick and visit the doctor. I put myself in the hands of the doctor by following his directions so that I can be well again. For the period of time that I'm ill, I periodically visit the doctor for checkups to see how things are progressing, fill the prescriptions and take the medicine as directed. Obviously, I'm never cured of alcoholism so I have to check in with God often so that I don't self-medicate.
