Well, like Chuck C said about Clancy, "he can help guys I couldn't touch with a ten foot pole" that's my experience as well, the "in your face, sit down and shut up" approach just doesn't come from me, nor do I respond to it well, but many do. /shrug

I personally have a great deal of respect for a number of people I think of as "Big Book Thumpers" and some I love around here, we been doing the deal side by side for a lot of years, and everyone one of them would answer the phone and come running for me, just as I would do the same for them.

They just don't happen to be people I hang out with regularly on a social basis nor do they necessarily "have what I want" as far as a relationship with themselves or others is concerned which to me is pretty important.

i think in the politically correct world of A.A. today...

the term Thumper has gotten a bad rap!

shure, we may quote pages in the Big Book...

its what we do with those quotes that matters!

a Thumper is a recovered alcoholic, and as someone might have mentioned, a recovering self-willed, self-centered ass hole!
