Finished page 164 today

I'm 499 days sober today and just finished the 12 steps with my sponsor this morning. In a strange way becoming an alcoholic was the best thing that ever happened to me. Since I've been sober I can honestly say that my life has improved in every way possible. To those who are still struggling, my advice is to forget everything you think you know and just be willing. Your miracle is right around the corner.

Bill Wilson said the AA message could be summed up in 6 words;

Trust God
Clean House
Help Others

This corresponds perfectly with the 2nd to last paragraph on page 164:

"Abandon yourself to God as you understand God. Admit your faults to Him and to your fellows. Clear away the wreckage of your past. Give freely of what you find and join us."

I feel the same way. First of all using drugs and drinking probably kept me alive or kept me from becoming a serial killer ( I was a little sicker than others). If I had not become a drunk I may never have been introduced to this way of life
