Our inabililty to permanently resist the temptation to drink is the proof that we have an alcoholic mind. Despite the consequences and despite a sincere desire to stay away from drinking, the person with an alcoholic mind will eventually return to drinking. But there is a solution. The first chapters in the Big Book present the evidence that we are hopeless apart from divine help. We are then presented with the solution----a program of action that allows us to awaken spiritually and to a new, successful way of life.

I love Fred's story.. How about having "the threshold of the dining room" as a trigger.. talk about subtle insanity indeed. Need to be in spiritually fit condition and on guard at all times. Can never let up. nice post nandm Andy |

AW when I read your post a thought popped in my pointed little head! Trigger = insanity I have no triggers anymore, the insanity of that first drink is gone as long as I maintain my spiritual condition fit.

Excellent thread nandm. You hit the nail on the head Martin, the recovering Alcoholic now has the Power available to shed the mental traits that so debilitate us in a New Life. Only through the healing of a Greater Power and the change brought about by the Steps can we have assurance that the Alcoholic Mind is defeated. This is a fact that thousands of recovered Alcoholic have found; freedom for the mind, body and spirit is available if honesty, open-mindedness and willingness are central to my every thought and action today.
