Amazing discovery...

I am in my 5th year of 'studying' the 12 steps.

I have found that when I encounter a sitution where I am becoming angry, frustrated, or 'out of sorts', if I recite the 12 steps in my mind the situation and my bad mood almost always disappears.

I started off by just reciting the first 3 steps when I began to sense a negative situation or a bad mood coming. Now I recite them all.

Amazing.

Especially amazing for someone like me who thought I knew everything there was to know about the 12 steps (foolish me ).

Tommy that is an awesome idea, I am feeling lazy this morning so I will leave it to someone else to find the quote, but in the BB it says something to the effect that when we become, angry, confused, frustrated, etc. it is best to just take a step back and be quiet, to slow down, to pray and meditate on the situation at hand, to turn it over if need be or to be patient and wait for the proper action to come.

I do the same as you except I slowly say the Serenity prayer, letting it sink in.... not only to me but into the situation at hand.

The Serenity Prayer is GREAT.

I recite that a lot too.
