*~*~*~*~*^ Big Book Quote ^*~*~*~*~* "Once more: The alcoholic at certain times has no effective mental defense against the first drink. Except in a few rare cases, neither he nor any other human being can provide such a defense. His defense must come from a Higher Power." ~Alcoholics Anonymous, 1st Edition, More About Alcoholism, pg. 43~

The key for me in staying sober has been maintaining my relationship with my Higher Power. Today I can go places where people are drinking and I rarely even consciously think about them drinking. I have friends who can drink normally (drink a half a glass of wine and walk away. My alcoholic brain can't even concieve of doing that). My freedom from the obsession I owe to my Higher Power. Thanks for the reminder, Carol

in July 1988 a friend told me about this. You will see a time when nothing but praying is going to keep you sober he said.2 weeks later that time came,I did everything but pray, and ended up drunk for 3 days

That was so true for me until I started living in the solution, as long as I stay in the solution maintaining my spiritual condition fit, I have found I am good to go where I please as long as I have a reason to be there. Last week took the family plus one daughters fiancee out to dinner, I sat right next to him and if I had not heard him order a beer I really do not think I would have noticed he had one. There was a day and a time that would have made me crazy if I did not have one of my own.
