| Big Book Study
With an Ipod Edition, I am studying the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous once again. Speaker MP3's are all over the internet! From the Common Solution and the Planned Program of Action we each can gain new insight into helping those who cannot help themselves. Listening to Joe and Charlie once again; I had the tapes for years, but now on they are downloaded to my Ipod has reawakened my sober life. It is hard to forget Charlie mentioning that more people die in the rooms of AA than ever before. Why? They do not get the planned program of recovery. They make a start and fall and we are not there to pick them up. When was the last time we were long suffering with one of our Pigeons who kept getting drunk? My daily mediation today starts with a gratitude list, followed by study in the Big Book while following Joe and Charlie and finally a listening time and prayer. It is working. I am a better man when I do the footwork today. Ron

Ron,I am too. This morning I took some extra time, and re-read pages 84-88 slowly..Took extra prayer and mediation time.It has been a very peaceful day today. My spiritual batteries have been recharged... I look forward to Wednesday nights lately.I have had the pleasure of chairing a beginners meeting at our regular home group meeting.Tonight we are going to the Big Book and start on step 4...A young lady who has been in and out for yrs,and who used to come to meetings crying is now helping out.She finally did what the Book suggested, and now she smiles and laughs..The good stuff she shares is stuff you get when you take the steps.... It has been a pleasure watching her grow and get happy

My youngest has an Ipod she never uses anymore. I'm glad you brought this up because it's going to be put to use now!

| Hello, hello.... I've been sober for quite awhile and am looking for something in the Big Book that I just don't think is there. It has come up in conversations as I am new to the state I moved to and of course, AA is a little different than where I moved from. Some people look at me like Im on another planet (I am but who cares?) when I mention journaling. It's something that was drilled into me and anybody else I got sober with back in 1984.Has anyone ever seen a reference to "journaling" or "writing" other than: - listing our resentments down on paper - writing out the 4th step Is there a mention anywhere to journal things down? I know it talks of a spot-check inventory yet that doesn't have to be written. Thanks all you Big Book thumpers! ![]() ScorpioGirl |

Scorpiogirl there is no mention of it at all in the first 164 pages, but with that being said, there are a lot of good suggestions that help many in the path of sobriety that are not written in those first 164 pages that experience has proven to be darn good advice to follow, I am not into journaling, but I find when I am confused or bothered by something that writing things down helps me immensely, I suggest this to sponsee's and others because it has helped me be able to focus on my own written word. I know a lot of folks who have shared how journaling is very helpful for them and I can see that it would be.

| Anonymous Press - Alcoholics Anonymous Books, Software, Phone Numbers, FAQ & AA Big BookŪ Index Anonymous Press has been a ready resource for First Edition and Manuscript material for me for years. Their software e-AA2 is awesome for study as are there study Big Books. I give away the smaller pocket versions. Concordance and all in one easy place!

There are study, meeting and convention tapes everywhere on the net and they go on the IPOD smoothly for use anywhere. I want more from the lessons of others, fresh lessons that open the world of recovery. What a great way to have AA from everywhere at the touch of a button. I am considering the small IPOD for my pigeons; use the whole tool bag!
