I tell ya, if there is any quote in the big book I remember well it is this despite the fact that I hardly ever heard it read at meetings.

I like it because it implies, we don't have to be saints BUT at the same time we can not rest on a laurels.

I think it says "Sure, you'll make some mistakes but if you examine them and take the required action so they don't happen again, you'll be right."

My sponsor use to say "The only way to cruise is downhill." Enlarging my spiritual life is a life long committment.

The other quote I like is in the part where it talks about sex - it says something like we avoid hysterical thinking or advice. While I know the writer is talking about sex, I've found this point helpful and try applying it to all areas of my life because I tend to be a tad hysterical/reactive at times.
