A lot of churches have an ever changing sign in front of the church, one down the road, from me has some good ones sometimes, the one on there now says: Quote:
Any others you all have seen?

The church by my old apartment had a sign for one night that said "Walmart is Satan". I agreed. But, I think that might've been some clever kids vandalism and not the spirit of the church.

The church by my house now has one that says "Seven days without God makes one weak". Hugs and prayers! Amy

My recovery has been a series of surrenders. At about six months of sobriety I was not doing well. Let's just say that the "bedevilments" on page 52 were bedeviling me bigtime. Everyday was a struggle, not only to not drink but I was making real heavy going of living. Although I was going to lots of meetings and trying to stay busy, every day I fought taking a drink and I was getting tired. My head just would not stop going. When I was a couple of months sober I went back to work at a company that I had worked at a few years before. There was a guy there who was about a year sober when I quit before and at three years of sobriety he was a changed man. Understand that this man and myself had hated each other's guts in the past. We wouldn't even drink together. One day I went to him and said "I know you are sober and go to AA, but you seem different. What are you doing that I'm not?" He told me to come to a meeting with him that Friday night and he would introduce me to some people. One of them was his sponsor, who became my first sponsor. At the meeting, I gave up and asked for help. I haven't had to fight a drink from that day 'till now. The next day I saw a sign at a church. It said "WHEN YOU ARE AT YOUR WIT'S END, THAT IS WHERE YOU WILL FIND GOD." You see I had taken my best ideas as far as I could take them. I had walked far over the bridge of reason and stepped onto the desired shore of faith. Jim Big Book references from Alcoholic Anonymous, First Edition
