Nothing is set in stone on this. When, I first came around people chairing would set up the meeting. I go to church an hour early each week to set up tables and chairs make coffee pass out reading etc. Since, it's not a group owned building

In my area it varies from meeting to meeting, it is determined in the group conscience.

My home group rents space allowing us to keep everything in place. We currently have 35 members with front door keys. There are always some who come early to fellowship. Anyone who walks in first makes coffee It is the Chairs responsibilty to make sure the coffee..lights... AC are off and the dorr locked.

My home group is really big. We have service committments designated for: 1. Chair Set-up (mostly just straightening/arranging - chairs are generally already set) 2. Coffee Prep 3. Literature Prep (setting up the literature table with books, pamphlets, etc.). This position also maintains lit stock and collects $ from those who buy books, and arranges liberal credit terms for those who can't afford. 4. Greeters 5. Coffee clean up (separate of coffee prep) 6. Trash police The only things, other than leading the meeting and reading the general opening stuff, the chairperson does is set up the podium and microphone. But every meeting I've been to is different. |

Here in NZ, it is usually the Secretary who sets up the meeting and holds a key to the building where the meetings are held. I think we use different terms though for service postions. A 'chairperson', here, is the person who leads the meeting, from what I understand over there you folks call them 'leaders'. We do have the odd meeting though where the chairperson does not lead the meeting but rather just picks other people to share.

Mines is somewhat like justanotherdrunk's. These are service duties, but not real set in stone. if my job is to make the coffee and I cannot make it to Thursday's meeting, then my job is to find someone for that meeting.
