5 months sober today.....

and loving it!

I love the freedom, being able to get up and go to work, do a good job and feel good about it.

I love the fact that I've met so many new people during these 5 months, and I love actually getting along with them and not behaving like an a-hole all the time.

I love going to sleep at the end of the day, reflecting on all the things that have happened during that sober day and then waking up in the morning with a clear head, refreshed and ready for another.

I love working on myself, analyzing my emotions and thoughts, and when needed, letting them go.

I love the strength I have found within me, and not having to feel like a quivering wreck all the time.

I love genuinely FEELING things again.

I love the feeling that for the first time since my drinking days (quite a while) I'm actually learning, growing, and progressing.

Like the promise in the Big Book says (page 25): "we have been rocketed into a fourth dimension of existence of which we had not even dreamed"
Being the cynical drinking alcoholic that I was, I never believed this.
I can now testify that it is TRUE.
A true promise.

I've had many ups and downs during these 5 months.

To put it like Vinnie Jones in Lock Stock & Two Smokin' Barrels:

"It's been emotional"

A lot of hard work, but it works!

Congratulations!! This is an inspiration to many, may you continue to have many many more wonderful free days!!! Though it ain't over til its over, you have now gotten a taste of the wonderful life recovery and work brings. There will be more of the roller coaster, but you have what it takes to get through it, one day at a time.
