Driving again!!!

One of my sponsee's got his restricted license back Saturday and told me Sunday he felt like he was 16 again, nervous, but excited!!! I hooked him up with a lawyer in the program who has been sober a number of years and he got him his restricted license back really quick with some really liberal restrictions.

He seems to live with a smile on his face, he says he can not beleive how things have been going for him since he quit fighting stuff and just turns it over and does what he is supposed to do, and things happen. This guy helps me see just how great things work when one works it. He keeps telling me "Man things like this do not happen for me!"

It is always good to hear great news, thanks for sharing. When I saw the title I thought you were refering to yourself, I thought man Taz must have messed up bad to be stripped of his license for this long. LOL

He was not stripped of his license that long, he never went to get it back because he did not want to take the classes and said he was scared of getting into more trouble if he drove again.

I had my learners for 7 years and drove on it alone all that time. In my country, if you are on your learners and driving you are suppose to have someone with their full license with you AT ALL TIMES. Ha,ha.

I also sponsored a lady who had hers for 10 years.

This really brought a chuckle on for me. Drinking is put a sympton of our my serious problems = not being to run our own lives and behave like adults.

Congrats to your sponsee, that's great.

Well I thought his license was going to result in a little less service work for me giving him rides......... turns out he is now having to scrape together the cash to get his car back on the road!!! LOL That is okay really, gives us a bit more time to talk.

tell me about it Taz, I am due to get my liscense back and have all kinds of fines and fees to pay before I can even think of getting it back

the triad of getting a liscense:
need money to get a liscense
need a liscense to get a job
need a job to justify getting a hardship liscense
ahrg.....

frstnm he got his restricted license and besides being able to drive to and from work, he can drive to AA meetings, to therapy and to drunk classes. He can also give other people rides to meetings. Of course unless his wife loans him her car he is still stuck until he gets his car fixed. Have you spoke to a lawyer? The lawyer I hooked him up with is in the program and has an excellent rapport with the judges and prosecuters, they all knew him when he was drinking and have seen the change in him.

here in MA we just have alot of bs to deal with
I technically cant have a liscense for 2 years but if I have a job or school I can apply for one
we also have to go to 2 weeks inpatient care as a result of oui #2 as well as go to 26 weeks of outpatient counselling
I was at the registry today and now they tell me that the 26 weeks has to be complete before a hardship can be granted
I was told it didnt
where I live its a long way to where they do the group/class
its also very hard to find a job that doesnt require a liscense
the court never sent over the abstract to the rmv and when I asked the court for one they sent me a copy of the officers citation
two completely different doccumenets
what a pain in the arse

I was counting on my liscese this month to get back to work and be able to pay rent among other things...........
