Now, who said that? My sponsee called me twice today when I wasn't home and I called her back asap cause that's pretty unusual for her. I calmly listened while she told me her own personal galloping tale of woe (that sounded so familiar to me) and just when I was thinking "OMG what the heck do I tell this girl?" My sponsor's voice came to me: Page 417. I can't tell you how many times I have heard "I'd like you to read page 417". So, that's what I told J. And she hung up sounding a lot calmer. I am SO grateful for my sponsor. How she does the telepathy thing..I"ll never know.

One of my sponsees has a standing suggestion to read 417 every day - just as my sponsor had me do. Awesome. Peace & Love, Sugah

My sponsor tells me to read pages 60-63 whenever I start griping and whining and moaning about life. So I do.

Funny thing how sponsors are always pointing out things to read in the BB isn't it? LOL Even funnier is that a book written in the late 30's still has the answers today! When I am speaking to my sponsor about some change I am considering that I am not totally sure about he always ask me "What are your motives?" It always gets me thinking and examining what they are!!! Funny thing, I still on occasion ask the same thing and you would think I would already know what the answer will be!!!!

My sponsor used to tell me to read that same part on acceptance in a similar manner, only she’d tell me to read page 449 (it was the Third Edition back then and I guess it still is today since I still use my original Big Book). I’d be whining about some situation or person that had p*ssed me off at that moment (which wasn’t real hard to do back in those days if you wouldn’t do things my way) and she’d lay that same line on me. Well fast-forward a couple of years and she called me and was venting about her children or this or that and when she came to a break in the dialogue, I interjected, “Maybe you need to read page 449 . . .” There was this quite pause on the other end of the line and then she asked, “You are enjoying yourself, aren’t you?” “Uh huh,” was all I could reply. (She later told me that she didn’t mind the reminder so much, but it was my giggling on the other end of the line after I had said it that was just a bit irritating.)
