My Name is Earl???

Has anyone else noticed that the TV show "My Name is Earl" has some AA parallels?

1. Why does the title sound like the start of an AA meeting?

2. Why is there a "Amends List"?

3. Why is the lead character so much like a typical alcoholic?

Could be the creator of the show is an alcoholic, in AA? It is one of the 12 traditions, anonymity on the public level. There have been a lot of 'celebrities' that have gone public with their alcoholism, but it is red-letter AA tradition for members to maintain anonymity.

I've not seen that particular show
but....
when I have on "my recovery ears"
I hear many program references.

Perhaps a subtle way to educate?

It is interesting, I have noticed some 12 step similarities on other shows as well. Although they are slipping my mind at this moment.
