| So glad to be home
Just got home from one the biggest annual regattas in these parts. toledoblade.com -- Winds buffet, benefit Mills Race crews Funny, the boat I crewed on is just behind the black boat in the center of the picture, we didn't rate a mention due to the fact that it's difficult to tell we were even there, you can only see our mainsail. It was mildly brutal, got completely drenched in the 1st 5 minutes, my foul weather gear wasn't completely zipped up, and spent the next three hours getting soaked. Have done this race for 5 years now, it was the earliest we ever finished, around 0330 IIRC, got to the dock and the other classes, boats that had taken the shorter courses, were there in full force and getting blasted. Our guys were busy getting blasted, after staying up for a bit I went below and slept for about 3 hours, nice getting up and being no more than merely tired, we had 11 crew and save for myself and three other guys, one of whom doesn't drink like myself, the rest were in various stages of hangovers or still somewhat drunk. I didn't stay, about half the crew did for a Saturday night of drunken debauchery, so happy to be out of that place. One of the guys I drove home had a wicked hangover, I got a little bit of a vibe from him due to the fact that everyone on the crew is now fully aware that I don't drink today and don't make any exceptions, even for these type of "social" events. He's a really great guy and a great racer/sailor, am hoping that he's noticed also, the fact that I don't drink today, pretty sure he's an A also. Who knows? And we got a third in class and third overall, a pretty big deal. We won our class last year but only got a 13th overall.

Congrats on your finish and on setting an example for others that may still be suffering.
